Summer Cohort Reunion

Teachers from the Mobile CSP classes of 2013 and 2014 visited this year's cohort to share pizza and stories of the joys of teaching Mobile CSP in their classrooms.

Mobile CSP @ ISTE 2015

Members of the Mobile CSP team (left-to-right Ralph, Jim, Pauline, Chinma, Chery, and Jen) traveled to Philadelphia on Sunday to  host a workshop at ISTE 2015 (International Society for Technology in Education)  on building socially useful apps in App Inventor.

2015 Online Cohort Begins Mobile CSP Professional Development

On Monday, June 22nd, the first online cohort began with 39 participants from 13 states (click to enlarge map). 

2015 Connecticut Teacher Cohort Begins Summer Course

A group of 12 Connecticut teachers began a six week Mobile CSP course.

At left, Mobile CSP co-PI, Chinma Uche, is leading five of the teachers through the binary odometer lesson, one of the lessons borrowed from CS Unplugged.  What number is that?  Looks like a 5?  

Mobile CSP Students Share Mobile Apps at 2nd Annual Mobile CSP Expo

On Thursday, May 28nd, the 2nd Annual Mobile CSP Expo was held at Trinity College. Students who were enrolled in the Mobile CSP course during the 2014-2015 academic year were invited to demonstrate the apps they had created during the course. Approximately 70 students participated in the event.

Thank you to everyone who joined in last night. It was great seeing and hearing from everyone. We tested out a new tool called Zoom. Unfortunately, the free version of Zoom only lets you do 40 minute meetings, so about 3/4 of the way through we had to start a new meeting. Both parts were recorded. Mobile CSP Teachers Attend CS Ed Week Kick Off Event at the White House

100 Teachers Workshop

Of 100 teachers selected nationwide, Connecticut sent six to the NSF 100 Teachers Workshop. Several others were Mobile CSP teachers from Massachusetts.

Mobile Apps for Hartford: High School Students Unveil Their Apps

Mobile Apps for Hartford Presentation

On August 15, twenty high school students from Hartford area presented their apps to their clients at McCook auditorium, Trinity College. During six week internship with the Mobile Apps for Hartford, they have developed mobile apps for their clients, six public or non profit organizations in Hartford.

2014 Teachers Give Final Presentations

The 2014 Cohort of Mobile CSP teachers (left) gave final presentations in McCook auditorium.

The six-week course was held at Trinity College from July 7 - August 15. Fourteen high schools from the following towns were represented at this year's course: Bloomfield, Hartford, West Hartford, East Hartford, Milford, Bridgeport, Manchester, Simsbury, and Westbrook.
